Karmann Chan

Hi, I'm Karmann.

I'm the founder of Maia Commons, an entrepreneur, a business development professional, and the mother of an amazing teenage boy.

I was born in Nigeria, moved to Hong Kong as a child, and came to the US in 2022, first to Connecticut and then to New York City. Three continents and four cities have introduced me to people from many different cultures, and taught me how much a life depends on the people around you, and how much work it takes to rebuild that when you start over.

I founded Maia Commons because it has always been my dream to have my own business and do something meaningful at the same time: to make useful things that help people live fuller lives, not just busier ones.

Everything we're making comes from that experience. LivCircle, our first product, comes straight from starting over. After I moved, months would go by without seeing friends, my own checkups slipped, and the things I dreamed of doing stayed on a "someday" list. So we're building the app I wish I'd had. It notices what you've let slide, finds the time, and does the planning for you.

Mission Odds comes from seeing the world from more than one place. Disease and climate change don't stop at borders, and neither should our curiosity about who's solving them. Working in business development has taught me to ask whether a company can really deliver what it promises, so that's the question Mission Odds answers, honestly and in plain English.

I hope these products grow into something useful for people in the US and around the world. Along the way, I hope we can form meaningful partnerships, grow our team, and keep coming up with new ideas.
